Meet the Architects for the Future Burnside Bridge
The project just completed a robust Environmental Review Phase where a Preferred Alternative was selected. The project is now entering into the Final Design Phase where further bridge form and design will be developed. The County has hired a team of architects and engineers to lead the design effort for the future Burnside Bridge which kicks off in January 2024. This UDP meeting will focus on ‘meeting the architects’ and learning about opportunities to follow the project’s progress and share input along the way.

Waterfront Vancouver USA – Transformation of Shorefront Industrial Property

This presentation will provide slides from the previous industrial uses at the 32 acre project site and then unveil the challenges and issues in developing the site into a thriving new 21-city block neighborhood complete with residential, hotels, retail, office, restaurants and a shoreline park.
Project Partners Amy Donohue of Bora Architecture & Interiors and Joel Andersen of Andersen Construction last shared this work with the AIA community through a digital design series in 2021 and will join the Urban Design Panel in May to give an update on this initiative and share the challenges and opportunities encountered in delivering this work.
TriMet’s Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) team has just published the agency’s first Regional Transit-Oriented Development Plan. Come join TOD Program Manager Guy Benn and TOD Design Manager Fiona Lyon share how the Plan will enable the agency to promote and deliver equitable development, increase ridership, provide essential housing, promote transit accessibility and deliver significant environmental, infrastructure, community, and economic benefits.

APANO 82nd Ave Equitable Real Estate Plan and Implementation Strategy
Opening in September of 2022, the Portland region will celebrate opening of FX-2 Division – the Portland region’s very first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line. TriMet will soon open 63 station platforms along Division Street – an extremely constrained corridor that changes drastically in terms of the street cross section, urban context and adjacent land uses. The new enhanced bus service provides a vital connection between Downtown Portland and City of Gresham.
TriMet, the operator of mass transit in the Portland region, is committed to ensuring a safe, welcoming and equitable transit system for everyone. This month’s Urban Design Panel will explore how TriMet’s Transit Equity, Inclusion & Community Affairs team is engaging with the community to reimagine a better transit system that is fair and free of bias, while addressing the needs of its riders and employees to feel safe.
Update on Montgomery Park to Hollywood (MP2H) Project
The Montgomery Park to Hollywood (MP2H) project explores the possibility of extending the streetcar, while setting the table for equitable development that provides needed affordable housing and commercial spaces, as well as other public benefits.
The OMSI District will be a one-of-a-kind neighborhood: an inclusive community destination with innovation, culture and science learning at its heart. A new waterfront education park will honor people and place and will be the first in the city to restore an urban tribal presence on the Willamette River.
