APANO 82nd Ave Equitable Real Estate Plan and Implementation Strategy
APANO received the Metro 2040 Planning Grant in 2021 and began working in January 2022 with EcoNW and their team to prepare a plan that is implementable for equitable development on 82nd Avenue and in the Jade District. Our guidepost was that…
“Equitable development on 82nd Ave and in the Jade District need to leverage public and private programs, policies, and investments to support an affordable, sustainable, and healthy community in which diverse community members can build wealth and thrive.
APANO and the Jade District recognizes that to fully leverage community values in the development process–including arts and culture, transportation and safety, parks, and open space–community values must be reflected throughout the organizations’ work, from staffing and contracting to community organizing and small business services.
An outcome of this Equitable Real Estate Plan and Implementation Strategy will be a set of successful implementing strategies and site studies rooted in community-driven values. These strategies and studies will help evaluate the physical and financial feasibility of site acquisition and implementation of equitable development projects in the district that will provide the community with meaningful access to economic opportunity.”
APANO staff will share how community organizing led to advocacy and development work that is community-centered and these guiding principles will continue to help our community be more resilient as social and economic issues become more complex and urgent.
