AIA Oregon Awards Programs

AIA Oregon, and the previous Oregon Chapters that make up AIA Oregon, have several long-running Design Awards programs - the purpose of which is to celebrate the value of good design.

The Oregon Architecture Awards (previously the Portland Architecture Awards) program is a jury-reviewed program intended to acknowledge design excellence.

The AIA Oregon Professional Achievement Awards celebrate and recognize achievement at all levels of the profession within our community. The objective is to promote engagement within the chapter and recognize valuable contributions of members who are serving the community and proactively improving the architecture profession.

The People’s Choice Awards programs occur at the local level at the discretion of the local section. The format of the program presents local work to the community through displays and a voting process open to community members.

In response to the AIA Resolution for Urgent and Sustained Climate Action adopted at the 2019 AIA National Convention in Las Vegas, AIA Oregon incorporated the AIA Framework for Design Excellence, formerly known as the COTE Top Ten, into the Design Awards Programs in 2020. Each submission in any of our programs is required to address the incorporation of a specified number of Framework categories in the project description.
