AIA Oregon’s Committee on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is currently seeking nominations for the role of Chair-Elect. The Chair-Elect will assist the Chair in the supervision and facilitation of the committee beginning in April of 2022, with the expectation that the Chair-Elect assume the role of Committee Chair in 2023.
The mission of the Committee on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CoEDI) is to better reflect the global & demographic richness of our population through advocacy for under-represented groups in our profession. The Chair and Chair-Elect are responsible for directing committee activities and initiatives to further this mission, as well as the goals and mission of the AIA Oregon chapter. The Chair and Chair-Elect are expected to facilitate committee meetings, represent the committee within the chapter and the Oregon design community, and engage with the Board of Directors consistently through reporting and otherwise as requested. Other frequent responsibilities include, but are not limited to: organizing events and volunteer efforts, most notably the annual FutureVIsion conference; engaging in and facilitating discussions focused on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion; collaborating with allied groups and community organizations to advance diversity and inclusion efforts while representing AIA Oregon. Per AIA Oregon operating policy, Committee Chairs must be professional members of the organization (AIA, Assoc. AIA, FAIA, or Emeritus).
