Like much of this year, Future Vision 2020 is going virtual.  While we will miss seeing you in person, we are developing some amazing learning opportunities and are thrilled to reach a broader audience.  We hope you will join us from November 9th through the 13th to hear from leaders in design justice, connect with colleagues, and walk away inspired to transform your processes and practices.  Individual sessions will be approximately 2 hours long and take place daily between the hours of 10am and 2pm (excluding Veterans Day, Wednesday November 11).  Some days will also include an informal afternoon discussion hour from 4pm to 5pm (drinks optional) to foster further conversations with our speakers and session attendees.

We’re also very excited to announce one of our speakers at Future Vision 2020: Amara H. Pérez, PhD.  Amara is a long time social justice educator, community organizer, participatory action researcher, and critical strategist. For over 25 years her work with communities and students of color in Portland has been informed by popular education, critical theories, and participatory action research. Drawing from critical pedagogy, critical race theory (CRT), and spatial theory, her current research examines the role of planning, design, and built environments in maintaining structural oppression. She also studies how critical race spatial praxis can be used as a methodology for equity within educational institutions and local communities.

Amara and her student co-researchers will present on critical race theory on Tuesday, November 10th from 10 am to 12pm, and will join us for a happy hour that same afternoon from 4pm to 5pm.  A full session description can be found HERE.

Please check the event page regularly for additional speaker announcements, session descriptions, schedule confirmation, and registration information.
