AIA mourns with the greater Miami community

AIA mourns with the greater Miami community as we learn the full horrific toll caused by the collapse of Champlain Towers South, in Surfside, Florida. Right now, the depth of grief, loss, and uncertainty created by this catastrophe for the victims, their families, friends, and the immediate community are immeasurable.

In the coming days, even as we learn more, perhaps, we can find some measure of solace and grace in the bravery of the first responders, the tremendous outpouring of generosity in the community, and the compassion expressed across the nation. Difficult times can serve to illuminate what’s best about being human: kindness, courage, and strength in adversity. Difficult times can also focus us all on what’s most important: family, friends, and community.

Member Tip: Fellowship (FAIA) eligibility criteria

To be eligible for FAIA nomination, a member must have been an architect member (AIA) for at least ten cumulative years. Regardless of breaks in membership, all periods of architect membership adding up to 10 years suffices, excluding Associate and Honorary membership.
