AIA Oregon Emerging Professionals present “ARE 101”. Moderated by Daniel Roth, AIA, this will be a Q&A Panel targeted towards entry level information for anyone wanting the basics about the licensure process. Attendees can be students, recent grads, or professionals looking to take that licensure step and the event is open to any AIAO member regardless of section.

Chris Lewis has spent 19 years at Ankrom Moisan Architects focused on delivering excellent projects and helping emerging professionals find their path in the office and profession. For the past 10 years he has been the state of Oregon License Advisor and has worked to continue to help the emerging professionals in the state continue on the path to Licensure.
Jen Endozo, Architectural Designer
Jen Endozo is an Architectural Designer based in Portland, Oregon and earned her B.Arch degree in 2015 from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Upon graduating, she worked at ODA where she focused on large scale ground up multi-family developments. In 2018 she moved across the country to experience the PNW landscape. She joined the West of West team, where she works on multiple commercial developments from Austin to Vancouver. Jen enjoys the problem solving nature of architecture, and sees design constraints as design opportunities. Outside of the office, you can catch Jen training for her next marathon.
Katharine G. Young, Assoc. AIA, Oregon NAC Representative
Katherine Young is a 2021 graduate of California Polytechnic State University SLO and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree. In college, she triple minored in Sustainable Environments, Italian, and Art History whilst being a member of AIAS and the Dressage Team.
Currently she is working as a Designer at DLR Group in Portland and involves herself in numerous local events and organizations like the Portland Winter Lights Festival, Seattle Design Festival, and holds a leadership position as Oregon’s representative in AIA’s National Associates Committee.
Katherine is currently beginning her licensure process. She is making progress through logging her hours and has begun studying using materials like Black Spectacles and will soon enroll in Amber Book.
Joseph C. Sis, Jr., AIA, NCARB, Project Manager
Joseph is an architect and project manager in a Southern Oregon Design-Build firm in White City, Oregon just outside of Medford. For the past 11 years at S&B James Construction Management, Joseph has been an integral part of a 3-person design team working closely with the Client and General Contractor through all phases of the project. Working on projects of all sizes in the Commercial, Industrial, Education, Healthcare, Public, and Private sectors
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Studies in Architectural Sciences degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. He is licensed to practice architecture in Oregon, is a member of the American Institute of Architects, an NCARB member, and currently represents Southern Oregon AIA as the Emerging Professionals Committee Chair.
Nicholas R. Respecki, AIA, NCARB, Manager, Examination Development, NCARB
Nicholas Respecki is a Manager of Examination Development at NCARB. In this position, he works primarily on development of the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®).
Prior to joining NCARB, Respecki worked as an architect and designer for multiple firms in Washington, DC. He has experience in all phases of design and construction, with work primarily focused on large scale university, sports, healthcare, and cultural projects.
Respecki holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Architecture degree from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. He is licensed to practice architecture in the District of Columbia, is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity.

Daniel is the Section Director for the Salem section of AIA Oregon, and also serves as the Emerging Professionals Committee liaison to the AIAO Board. He is a recently licensed architect working in Salem, having passed the AREs at the end of 2019 before spending a few years capturing enough AXP hours to gain licensure. Daniel is passionate about encouraging EPs to pursue leadership roles in both the AIA and at their firms, as well as to continue pushing through the challenging path to licensure. It’s worth it!”
