AIAO Virtual L+L - Floodproofing

“Designing Passive Floodproofing Solutions using Floodproof Windows and Wall Systems”

Presented by Brian Johnson, President of Sales

The technology of flood mitigation is rapidly evolving as natural disaster concerns are consistently significant and the design community continues to push the limits of what is possible. This course will cover the evolution of floodproofing systems, leading to a new generation of flood mitigation solutions—floodproof windows. These systems offer the ability to passively withstand impact, as well as push the limits of size in a design. Upon completion of this course, the participants will have a thorough understanding of the new applications and specifications for oversized, impact, flood windows and flood walls systems that can be applied today in the rapidly evolving flood mitigation industry.

Learning Objective 1:

Explore the existing dry floodproofing systems as well as the new innovations being used to push the limits of size and strength.

 Learning Objective 2:

Identify, discuss and compare the differences between active and passive dry floodproofing solutions.

 Learning Objective 3:

Explain the different types of testing needed for impact windows, flood windows and flood walls as required by Local, State and Federal regulations.

 Learning Objective 4:

Understand the applications for these new systems and how their passive nature can provide protection while eliminating the need for human intervention during a flood event.
