AIA Oregon is pleased to announce Marlon Blackwell, FAIA as our Green Champion Summit keynote during Sustainable Building Week, October 9 - 13, 2023 - a week of cross-disciplinary education to solve climate imperatives.
On October 9, Marlon will discuss how his firm culture and architectural approach work to accomplish common goals between client and community, achieving elegant design as a civil right. He will utilize case studies from his firm's award-winning portfolio to illustrate the process of inclusion that leads to resilience.

This is a key annual event for AIA Oregon, and we're looking forward to joining the Keep Portland Green Sustainable Building Week community again.
This event will be held at SERA Architects, 600 SW 10th Ave #500, Portland. Refreshments will be served, and there will be short reception following Marlon’s presentation. Space is limited so register today.

Marlon Blackwell Biography
Marlon Blackwell, FAIA, is a practicing architect in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and serves as the E. Fay Jones Distinguished Professor at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas. Work produced in his professional office, Marlon Blackwell Architects, has received national and international recognition with significant publication in books, architectural journals and magazines and more than 160 design awards, including the 2016 Cooper Hewitt National Design Award. Blackwell is the recipient of the 2020 AIA Gold Medal, the Institute’s highest honor, which recognizes those whose work has had an enduring impact on the theory and practice of architecture. Earlier this year Marlon was elected as a member to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences — joining a list that includes such luminaries as Alexander Hamilton, Duke Ellington, Eudora Welty and Albert Einstein.
