The AIA recognizes a Citizen Architect as an AIA member that applies their design insights, talents and training to advance leadership, advocacy, and civic engagement, and within their community strives to be the voice of the profession to other members in the general public.
Join us at our March Section Meeting to learn how local section members are putting the idea of Citizen Architect into practice and how you can engage with the AIAO structure to become more active as well.

You will hear from Section Director Andrew Scheidt on what our current state structure is and who holds those positions and ideas for the future year at the State Level, including how to get involved and whom to reach out to with questions on particular issues.
John Webster will present a recap of the recent Oregon Leadership Summit in Salem. We encourage you to invite your Emerging Professionals and encourage them to attend as well - this will be a yearly Summit, and it's a great way for them to engage with the regulatory structures that govern our profession.
Cindy Robert will present the work of the AIAO lobbying team on the recent action items in the Oregon State Legislative Session, including the Duty to Defend bill.
Kaarin Knudsen, candidate for Eugene mayor and also an AIA Eugene member, will give an update on housing advocacy and looking ahead locally.
