1 AIA LU|HSW
As part of Portland’s Sustainable Building week, please join the AIA Oregon Committee on the Environment (COTE) for an engaging, in-depth presentation about the newly-opened, main terminal at PDX, which represents the largest public works project in Oregon’s history. We’ll hear from Jacob Dunn with ZGF about this innovative design that doubles the capacity of the airport, while cutting energy use intensity by half, and invites passengers and employees to celebrate the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
ZGF was inspired by a walk in the forest and incorporated a stunning, 9-acre mass-timber roof that showcases wood that was sustainably and locally sourced from landowners and mills within a 300-mile radius of the airport. In addition to the beauty of the space, the design is intended to increase passenger comfort and reduce stress through a reconfigured and expanded ticket hall and streamlined security checkpoints.
The event will be held in the new terminal at Loyal Legion, which allows participants the opportunity to experience and learn about the space simultaneously.
