Durability for Steep Pitched Roof Assemblies through Vapor Management
1 AIA LU|HSW Available
There are several roofing underlayments available and determining the appropriate one can be based on several contributing factors - climate, building codes, roof type, pitch, and a variety of others. In this course, we will explore the importance of considering vapor management in the roof and attic assembly, in order to create a durable, steep pitched roof.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the performance criteria for different code compliant roofing underlayments.
Understand why moisture management and vapor permeance, under the roofing material, are more critical as focus has shifted to unvented roof assemblies.
Understand the limitations of current codes & testing criteria when specifying materials for high-performance roofing applications.
Recognize the potential impact of improper detailing at vulnerable locations in the roof assembly.
