AIA Oregon’s popular InProcess Lecture Series returns!
Join us Thursday, Sept 14th 5:30PM-7:00PM for the next installment of the InProcess Lecture Series. Holst and PAE will be co-presenting the New East County Library project in Gresham. The event will be hosted at PAE’s new living building in Downtown Portland.
The East County Flagship Library will be a 95,000 sf new space aiming to provide the community with diverse services and spaces. This presentation will discuss the design strategy and components of the project. A key element of planning for the design was community engagement through multiple charettes in which top concerns and desires could be voiced. In addition to a traditional library space, the project also contains the potential for unique community uses like a maker space, audio and video production space, and large area for cultural celebrations.
Sustainability was a top concern for both the community and the project team. The project is aiming for LEED Gold and is using passive house principles and relevant parts of the materials elements of the Living Building Challenge to create a resilient, low carbon, and energy-efficient building. The presentation will dive deep into all three challenges to explain how the team addressed each in the design.
