AIA Portland Summer Picnic

  • Laurelhurst Park, Picnic Site E 3600 Southeast Ankeny Street Portland, OR, 97214 United States (map)

AIA Oregon’s Portland Section & CoEDI would like to invite you to a summer picnic at Laurelhurst Park, Area E, on August 6th.  This is a great opportunity for the design community to come together, make connections, and for you to find out how you can get involved with AIAO’s current committees & efforts.

Please join us for some drinks, light snacks, yard games, and more!  This will be a family friendly event and you are encouraged to bring your children.

Catered by Nicholas Restaurant.

There is no cost to attend, but please RSVP so we can have a headcount for the caterer.

We aspire for this picnic to create dialogue and cross-pollination in our design community.  There are many ways for you to get involved with AIA Oregon, whether it means attending a committee meeting, joining a task force, volunteering for an event, or acting as a mentor for our emerging professionals and youth.  AIA Oregon is strongly committed to creating a more equitable, more diverse, and more inclusive profession.  Whoever you are and however you identify, we want you to know that you are welcome in our community in whatever way interests you, and in whatever capacity you can give.  We’ve collected some information below to help you make new connections with us.  Feel free to reach out now or start the conversation with us at the picnic.  We hope to see you there!

Keystones of our mission include:

  • Supporting firms in attracting, developing & retaining the best talent.

  • Providing mentoring opportunities at all phases of the professional pipeline, beginning with early education (k-12).

  • Facilitating connections to the broader community.

  • Promoting the value of design and its contributions to and from society.

Current Efforts:

  • Future Vision: a biannual symposium focusing on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the built environment and design professions.

  • Community outreach and engagement events.

  • Downtown Portland Plan Revisit.

Please join us for the next virtual meeting, held every fourth Thursday at noon.
