“Specifying Treated Engineered Wood Siding (TEWS) as an Exterior Cladding in Light Commercial and Multi-Family Projects”
1 AIA LU|HSW Available

An introduction to treated engineered wood siding and its use in light commercial and multi-family construction projects, with explanations of and comparisons to other cladding options commonly specified for these projects. Course content also includes the key benefits of treated engineered wood siding, such as design potential, workability, durability, sustainability and use in fire-rated assemblies.

This presentation is of most benefit to designers and firms that work with Type III and Type V wood frame construction.

Learning Objectives:

• Provide an overview of multi-family (MF) and light commercial (LC) construction types for which treated engineered wood siding (TEWS) is a cladding option, and review the major exterior cladding options available for these applications.

• Provide an overview of TEWS and discuss its history, how it’s made, why it’s sustainable. • Discuss how to achieve aesthetic, durability and weather- ability requirements using TEWS in MF and LC projects.

• Understand common MF and LC cladding assemblies rated to meet fire codes, including those using TEWS.
