Digital Design Series - Decarbonizing Building Operations — How to Approach Building Electrification

“Decarbonizing Building Operations — How to Approach Building Electrification”
Presented by Katie Zabrocki, PE, Mechanical Engineer at PAE
1 AIA LU|HSW Available

As the building industry shifts focus from the metric of energy to the metric of greenhouse gas emissions, the relationship between buildings and their energy utilities is changing. This session will look at the key system considerations required for building electrification and overview case studies of successful all-electric building projects in the region.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Review the data behind typical baseline buildings’ energy source split between gas and electric
2. Discuss all-electric equipment alternatives for typical gas-using systems.
3. Understand how the latest Oregon Energy Codes impacts all-electric building code compliance
4. Review case studies of all-electric buildings in the region.
