AIA Portland Summer Social

AIA Oregon welcomes you to the 2023 Portland Section Summer Social event! Join us at Bora’s new office for an evening of gathering on the large open-air porch.  This is a great opportunity to connect with the local design community, meet new people, and catch up with old friends.  

Join us for some drinks, snacks, and cool treats.  There will be also be some fun ways for us to interact, including:

  • The Committee on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CoEDI) hosting a poetry activity.  

  • The Emerging Professionals Committee hosting a game activity

Kids are welcome, however this is an adult event with alcohol so close supervision is recommended.

We aspire for this Summer Social to create dialogue and cross-pollination in our design community.  There are many ways for you to get involved with AIA Oregon, whether it means attending a committee meeting, joining a task force, volunteering to help with an event, or acting as a mentor for our emerging professionals. AIA Oregon is strongly committed to creating a more equitable, more diverse, and more inclusive profession.  Whoever you are and however you identify, we want you to know that you are welcome in our community in whatever way interests you, and in whatever capacity you can give. Committee on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (CoEDI) 

It is the mission of the AIA Oregon CoEDI to better reflect the global and demographic richness of our population through advocacy for under-represented groups in our profession. Keystones of our mission 

include: 

.  Supporting firms in attracting, developing & retaining the best talent. 

.  Providing mentoring opportunities at all phases of the professional pipeline,
  beginning with early education ( K-12) 

.  Facilitating connections to the broader community. 

.  Promoting the value of design and its contributions to and from society.

Current efforts include a biannual symposium called Future Vision, community outreach and engagement events, and the Downtown Portland Plan Revisit. Please join us for the next virtual meeting, held every fourth Thursday at noon. 

Committee on the Environment (COTE) 

COTE is committed to educating profesionals and the public on sustainable design issues and supporting an agenda of various public and private agencies and organizations. Our belief is that design excellence can only be discussed within the context of sustainability. We are looking for new leaders and members. Please join us for the next virtual meeting, held every fourth Thursday at noon. 

Portland Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC) 

The Portland Emerging Professionals Committee aspires to create a supportive group for young design professionals to advocate for continued growth and resiliency within the architectural industry and beyond. The committee strives to provide those early in their career an environment to discuss topics and plan initiatives relevant to both their career advancement and community involvement. Please join us for the next virtual meeting, held every second Wednesday at noon.
