Designing Safe & Beautiful Pedestrian Connections between East & West Bend

  • City of Bend Council Chambers 924 NW Riverside Blvd Bend, OR, 97701 United States (map)

2 AIA LU|HSW credits available for this session.

Join the American Institute of Architects Oregon, Bend Section while they present collaborative design ideas for cultivating east-west multi-modal transportation connections within the city of Bend. The AIA Oregon, Bend Section has been working with other professionals in our community to develop ideas for new transportation connections from the Bend Central District to Downtown Bend that are safe, enjoyable and beautiful to experience.

This two hour session will be an introduction to the ideas and processes driving this collaboration. We will break off into groups to further explore and share ideas verbally and on paper, looking at details such as neighborhood identity, wayfaring signage, lighting, traffic-calming techniques, intuitive and safe intersections, stormwater control, enhanced hardscape and landscape, and community art installations. At the end of the session your new ideas will be displayed for everyone to see and discuss. This session is particularly appropriate for design and landscape professionals, civil and structural engineers, and members of the Bend community.

This session is part of Bend Design 2019, but not included in the Bend Design Pass. You do not need a Bend Design Pass to participate. Cost is $25. Space is limited - get your ticket now!
